A Big Four professional services firm hands Redsis the operation of its IT infrastructure

Redsis manages nearly 500 virtual machines, more than 300 databases and the firm's primary and disaster-recovery sites — 100% remotely, with 24/7/365 monitoring and a 15-minute response on critical incidents.

The client

The client is the Latin American operation of one of the four major global audit, tax and advisory firms — the so-called Big Four. Its teams serve large enterprises across many sectors and depend on applications and databases that are available around the clock to deliver their work.

For a firm like this, infrastructure isn't the business — but without it, the business stops. And the confidentiality of client information demands operations that are rigorous, traceable and auditable.

The challenge

Running infrastructure of this size in-house takes a team of multi-platform specialists available 24 hours a day. The firm wanted a model that would let it:

  • Run mission-critical infrastructure under auditable SLAs.
  • Cover a multi-platform environment: virtualization, servers, storage and databases.
  • Protect business continuity across the primary and disaster-recovery sites.
  • Lower operating costs compared with a dedicated in-house IT team.

Service scope

Traditional model

Dedicated in-house IT team

In-house specialists per platform, shifts to cover 24 hours and rising fixed costs.

Today

Delegated management with Redsis

100% remote operations under ITIL, 24/7/365 monitoring and criticality-based SLAs, with monthly management reports.

The solution

Redsis took over delegated management of the firm's IT infrastructure through its Customer Service Center (CAC), which follows ITIL practices. The service spans monitoring and incident response through administration of the virtualization, storage and database platforms.

The entire service is delivered remotely, with no engineers on site. That lowers operating costs without giving up control: the client has a self-service portal and receives monthly management reports.

Operating model

  • 24/7/365 monitoring from Redsis's CAC, under ITIL.
  • Criticality-based SLAs, with a 15-minute response for Level 1 incidents.
  • Business continuity covering the primary and DR sites.
  • Multi-platform: VMware, Windows, Linux, IBM Power and IBM FlashSystem.
  • 100% remote, with no engineers on site.
  • Full traceability through a self-service portal and monthly reports.
